I'll take my sirloin well done...

Today is my sister-in-law Shannon's birthday (happy birthday, Shannon!) and it is also the due date for my soon-to-arrive niece, Baby Sirloin/ Petite Filet.

That sweet little girl has decided as of right now that she's happy where she is, so it looks like Baby Watch 2010 continues. I'm hoping she changes her mind before we get to Texas for Thanksgiving, and definitely before the Big 12 championship.


Baby girl, we are so excited that you are going to be here with us soon. You're not even here yet and you have been incredibly blessed with your mom and dad who love you more than you know. I can't wait to see how they change and grow with you. You'll be new to the Nix family, like I am, so you should be prepared for lots of candy and white puppies and spontaneous road trips. Long ones, too, and that means crossing time zones. Hopefully that will be to the Eastern Time Zone to see us at some point and visit Tallahassee. No matter where we are, geographically, we'll always be here for you. It will be a long time before you can read this, but like John the baptizer who leapt for joy and was filled with the Holy Spirit in his mother's womb, my prayer for your life is that that you find your identity in him foremost from the earliest of your days, and that you live authentically and fully in the love of Christ.

We love you, and we are praying for your safe delivery into this world. We are so ready to meet you.


For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom his whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
