I told myself to avoid posting about issues of religion on this blog, and for the most part, I haven't. However, I'm feeling a bit rebellious today. What me? Contrary? Never. I'm going to do my favorite thing in the world and pick out a single verse from a single book with no context and let it simmer. (Wait, I hate when people do that...thus I hate myself? Like I said, I'm a living, breathing contradiction.)

"If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless." -James 1:26

Happy Reformation day, too, to those of you who celebrate the Reformation :)

You're missing the best verse of that chapter. James 1:27:
"Pure and lasting religion in the sight of God our Father means that we must care for orphans and widows in their troubles, and refuse to let the world corrupt us."

You know what? I copied and pasted that verse because it was what I was going to put. Then I saw the next part and read through all of James and then put that verse instead. I think I'll take this verse tomorrow and make it my Sabbath. :)
